William Annicchiarico is a Civil Engineer from the Universidad Metropolitana (1988), Master of Sciences (1995) and Doctor of Science (2001) on Structural Engineering from the Universidad Central de Venezuela, where worked from 1994 and reached the level of Associate Professor (2006) in the field of Structural and Earthquake Resistant Engineering and Optimization. His PhD was on Optimization of Bi-dimensional and Three-dimensional Structural Models using Genetic Algorithms and Geometric Design Elements (in Spanish). In 1996, He forms part of the Venezuelan Center of Bioengineering (CEBIO) and from 2004 was appointed as substitute member of the directors’ board of the National Institute of Bioengineering (INABIO). From 2006 He is working as Visiting Scholar and Researcher in MME department at FIU. Professor Annicchiarico has authored and co-authored over 50 technical publications in diverse fields involving computational and analytical structural mechanics, multi-disciplinary fluid-thermo-structural inverse problems, design and constrained optimization, and multi-objective optimization in solid mechanic, structural engineering, earthquake resistant engineering and related problems in bioengineering. He has organized several minisymposium and symposium in the area of optimization in prestigious International Congress and World Congress of Computational Mechanics. Professor Annicchiarico is a Fellow of the Venezuelan Society of Numerical Methods in Science and Engineering and a member of the Venezuelan Society of Engineers.
